Everything You Need to Know About Every Door Direct Mailing

September 2, 2021

Tactics such as Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM), are economical and highly targeted with many businesses finding success with these types of printed marketing campaigns. Businesses find this kind of marketing especially helpful when they have a geographical area they would like to target, but do not have the physical addresses they need. The EDDM provided by the United States Postal Service has made a solution perfect for companies in this exact scenario.

What is Every Door Direct Mail?

EDDM is an economical mailing option offered by the United States Postal Service that allows your business to reach potential customers without having a mailing address. USPS’s online tool allows you to map different zip codes and neighborhoods for determining the route of your campaign. The tool also provides filters for age, income, and household size based on U.S. Census data, allowing you to create targeted campaigns.

How Can EDDM Benefit My Business?

Due to its highly targeted, geographical focus, EDDM can help you target specific locations and maximize your direct reach. This is a useful tool for local businesses to promote upcoming sales, openings of a new location, or for offering coupons. You can tailor your marketing materials to better fit your audience by targeting specific zip codes, or neighborhoods. USPS offers both Retail EDDM and Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU) to fit the needs of businesses large and small.  A few other benefits and features are:

Why Should I Use a Commercial Printer for EDDM?

The start of a successful print marketing campaign begins with a great concept supported by strong copy and compelling design. It can be difficult to design and create colorful, eye-catching graphics without the help of a commercial printer

Commercial printers are capable of crafting bold and clean designs for your EDDM campaigns. As mentioned above, EDDM can have specific bundling and mailing requirements depending on the size of the job. Using a highly experienced print provider for these larger jobs allows you to be confident your mailing is compliant with USPS rules and regulations.
